Family Navigator
Through this website, you can learn, find the supports you are looking for and get in touch with people to walk with you and help you along the way. You will connect with other military families who have asked similar questions and overcome similar challenges. And you can contact your local Military Family Resource Centre for support in navigating through education, health, and family resources.
Single Parent Resource Centre of Victoria
The Centre provides up to ten free counselling sessions on a one-to-one basis for single parents. The Centre also offers a comprehensive selection of life skills programs and workshops, parenting skill development courses and parenting support groups that are scheduled from September to June.
Greater Victoria Child and Family Counselling Association
The Greater Victoria Child and Family Counselling Association provides the following services:
Supported Community Living Services: CAFCA's casual roster of counsellors are assigned individual children and youth who are mentally, often physically, challenged. The work often involves providing opportunities to socialize and learn skills required for independence. Referrals come from the Ministry of Children and Family Development's Community Living Services social workers.
Autism Services: Parents of children and youth between 6 and 19 years of age can access Behavioural Consultants and Autism Interventionists with CAFCA. The Behavioural Consultants can provide a plan to assist with behavioural issues and remediation. The Autism Interventionists can provide one-to-one or group assistance to help children and youth learn to make friends and to develop skills required for independence. Through the CAFCA Autism Consortium, parents can gain ready access to psychologists, speech-language pathology, occupational therapists and bookkeeping services.
At Home Program
The At Home Program was developed to assist parents with some of the extraordinary costs of caring for a child with severe disabilities at home. Children may be eligible for full program benefits or for a choice of respite or medical benefits. Eligibility is regularly reassessed.
Greater Victoria Citizens' Counselling Centre
The Greater Victoria Citizens' Counselling Centre assists adult community members in attaining socially and psychologically satisfying lives by providing quality, accessible, volunteer counselling services.
